Julie Clements has thirty years experience serving our community as a volunteer. As a mother of four, she volunteered her time and talents helping different organizations while her kids were growing up. She served on the board for a local preschool, Old Dry Road Farm, Berks County Parks and Christian Education at her church. She also served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. When her children were young, she began sewing clothing and home decor. She expanded her sewing skills while creating costumes for Lancaster Country Day School productions. Once her children were grown, she developed a love for quilting and began teaching adults to quilt.
Julie has experience developing and teaching programs for children through the Wernersville library. She was recognized for 25 years of volunteer service at the library. There she helped plan the summer reading program for several years. In addition, Julie worked in several preschools, volunteered as a tutor and taught at an afterschool program at a local elementary school. She was a Sunday school teacher, and she created and taught a colonial toy program for multiple age groups.
Julie has a passion for creating things with recycled products. And her love of working with children inspired her to continue teaching and sharing her creative talents. Before she opened the studio, Julie offered camps to children of friends in her home. As the classes expanded they outgrew her space. Julie and her husband purchased the building at 6 West Penn Avenue, Wernersville, the former office of Dr. Raylene Devine’s pediatric practice. The building is the site of “Creativity etc.” a creative Arts and Sewing Studio.
“My goal with Creativity etc. is to provide a friendly and inspiring studio for both children and adults to explore their creative side.”
